Grants for Local Charities, Community Projects and other Charitable Purposes

General Background

In keeping with Christ’s teaching, St James Church makes gifts annually out of its income to various local and national charities.

Some years ago, the church was very fortunate to receive a substantial legacy. The Parochial Church Council (PCC) allocated part of the legacy fund for the purpose of making grants for charitable purposes. The Scout and Guide Group received a grant to assist in building their new Headquarters a few years ago, and a number of grants to various charities have been made made during the last 12 months.

The PCC now invites other charitable organizations and individuals to apply for a grant and expects to award a number of one-off grants for charitable projects such as capital works or startup costs, or revenue costs of a fixed duration, each probably being between £500 and £5,000.

The funds available are limited, and once exhausted, this scheme will end.

Who can apply?

Applicants must show on an application form that any grant made by the PCC will be used for charitable purposes, within about a 10-mile radius of St James Church, but this is flexible.

If you are interested and would like further information on the scheme there are sheets of Guidelines at the back of church along with an Application Form or click here to contact us.
