A funeral is used to mark the end of a person's life here on earth. Family and friends come together to express grief, give thanks for the life lived and commend the person into God's keeping. This can be a small, quiet ceremony or a larger occasion.
The church itself is almost always available for a funeral service, perhaps before going on to the Crematorium, and we will certainly do all we can to help and support a family through the pain of losing a loved one.
When making the initial arrangements for a funeral it is usually best to contact a local funeral director and they will liaise with the church and minister to try and meet your requirements.
Generally speaking our churchyard is only available for the burial of people who have lived in the parish at some time in their lives. This is not a hard-and-fast rule, but it is unusual to find an exception. Ashes can be interred in our Garden of Remembrance (with permission) after a cremation.
